Granite countertops complete
Today was a very exciting day in the world of our house. The granite counter tops were delivered and installation was a success. The details on the granite counter tops are as follows: The overall length of the kitchen bar / counter top side with the sink is 12′-6″ long. The granite is a 3-1/2 centimeter (CM) thick Uba Tuba granite imported from Brazil. The back-splash height is 4″ in the bathrooms and 6″ in the kitchen. The back-splash on the stove / refrigerator side will be glazed white porcelain subway tile 6″x3″. The sink in the kitchen is a under mount 50/50 side by side with deep bowls. The vanity sinks are under mount white porcelain sinks.
The granite installers ran out of day light and power today so they could not complete the installation. They will return tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. to finish and I will post pictures tomorrow of the finished product.
At last, the granite has finally arrived. Today at about 2:00 p.m. the granite counter top truck arrived with all of the granite counter tops ready to install.
Because we are now entering our 3rd week of delays in construction (waiting on counter tops) I decided to work on the house by myself. I made the decision to purchase all of the CAT6 and cable outlets for the bedrooms, great room, and kitchen. I hooked up most of the outlets today and they turned out great. For anyone that was interested in how the installation process works , I decided to add a step by step illustration showing how it was done. Hope you enjoy! Our contractor promises granite counter tops by Tuesday (11-17-09). Hopefully this will come true

Since the granite counter tops are taking longer than expected, we decided to have the electrical outlets and switches installed. They look great and the walls are looking complete.
Today we arrived on site to see that the soffit and fascia had been installed. The trim work really makes the house look complete.
