Use this as a guide for the steps necessary for building a new home:

First Stages:

  • Site Location (lot)
  • Obtain building setback information from local county or city code (zoning)
  • Design architectural drawings (blueprints) and engineer them ready for permitting.
  • Submit permit application and drawings for permit at local building department
  • Wait for plans and site plan to be approved.
  • Pick up building permit
  • Steak lot and mark where extents of home will be
  • Run lines for foundation footings
  • Dig all footers for home
  • Get inspection
  • Pour footings
  • Lay block on footings for stem wall
  • Get inspection
  • Add fill dirt to center of slab area
  • Run rough plumbing
  • Get plumbing inspection
  • Finish off grade over rough plumbing
  • Pour concrete slab over fill dirt and moisture barrier
  • Wait for concrete to cure
  • Add (erect) concrete block walls
