Subway tile in the kitchen
Today we installed white subway tile in the kitchen to act as a back splash wall. The tile turned out great. I apologize for the bad photos. We ran out of day light and were running on generator power for the last half hour or so. I will take better photos tomorrow.
Some details on the subway tile selection: We picked up the tile at our local Home Depot store. It is around $16 / box and we used approximately 4.5 boxes of the tile. The color of the tile is snow white and the size is 3″x6″ The tile has a built-in automatic grout joint which means the tile can be set next to each other without the use of spacers and still maintain a nice even and thin grout joint. The gout used was a standard bright white grout.

ok, so i’ve been following your blog for a while now, can’t remember how i found out about it. but i love your kitchen so far! i have white cabinets, white appliances and grey soapstone countertops and have been having a terrible time finding the right color of gray subway tile for my backsplash. i’ve been debating white for a while but wondered if it would make the kitchen look too white. but seeing yours, i’m inspired to do white, cause it looks great! are you doing stainless appliances? also, i’m using those same pendant lights in mine, so i think you just have exquisite taste, i guess!

Priscilla, I am happy to hear you are going with the subway tile. Chelsea and I were a bit apprehensive at first. After seeing it installed with the white grout, we couldn’t be happier. You can pick up the subway tile we used at any local home depot or lowes home improvement store. Our tile was around $16 a box and we used 4.5 boxes. All in all it was a pretty economical and HIGHLY stylish choice for a back-splash.
On another note, I must say that I clicked over to your blog (Verbal Intent) and I found myself laughing and enjoying each post of your blog. You and Matt remind me of Chelsea and myself in many of ways. I will definitely be linking to your blog from my blogroll! Keep up the excellent and witty posts, they are very entertaining and well written
I will be looking forward to them. Great to meet a new friend. — Brian (K.I.T.)
