Squeaky Wheel Gets The Grease!
Well, as the old saying goes; the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I can say this is true! After calling the building department 13 times today our revisions to the building plans were finally approved. I was told by my general contractor that this is an all time record for revision approvals. The two plans examiners on the project told me that they knew me by my phone number on their caller id and they had to get the approval done as fast as possible to avoid the 14th telephone call
Now the only thing left to do is wait for the permit clerk to process our paperwork and get it into their system. Don’t worry, I will be calling her in the next 24 hours to see what the status is. If I can get this plan released this week and back into the permit box, we can get our concrete slab poured on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed!
I know to some readers out there this may sound annoying to call and call and call to get what you want. Some would say, leave the county alone, let them do their job. But, in my experience I learned that if you don’t call or ask your requests will be placed on the back burner. Sometimes it takes being a litte annoying to get what you want. The county’s take is: out of sight, out of mind. If I put the issue back onto their desks enough times, they get sick of hearing about it and take action
